Comprised of educators from every teaching discipline, as well as counselors, librarians, and administrators, the Texas Community College Teachers Association's members come from all public and independent two-year colleges in Texas. TCCTA is -- by far --the largest organization of postsecondary educators in Texas.

- Five Texas community and technical college systems are training green! The group plans to share curriculum and expand training capabilities for regional "green" economy careers.
- Texas, South Carolina, Alaska, and Missouri have decided not to participate in an effort for new math and English standards, put forward by National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers
- Houston Community College has announced that it has been chosen as one of the recipients of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and MDC, Inc. for Developmental Education.
- HB 3 makes college readiness part of the accountability system by requiring schools to increase the number of students who are prepared and discussing a new standard for end-of-course exams regarding English III and Algebra II.
- The Employees Retirement System has published its online newsletter for higher education employees, covering a large number of frequently asked questions.
- Developmental education and performance funding will see legislative activity in 2011.
- Formula funding for community and technical colleges for the next biennium rose significantly. See how much "general revenue" your school will get in each year, starting in 2010.
- "Dead" bills of particular interest to two-year colleges. Most deal with subjects that will likely return in 2011.
